Bra sizing is not a precise art. A 36C bra in one brand will not necessarily fit like a 36C in another brand; material, cup shape and strap position all factor in to a bra’s fit. While we encourage our customers to be properly measured for a bra, a good fit can be more of a trial and error process. Ultimately, we want you to be comfortable and feel great wearing your bra, so we are happy to provide guidance in terms of selecting to correct size or brand. A General Guide for a Well-Fitting Bra
A new bra should fit you snugly, without too much “digging in” around your back, when it is fastened on the last set of hooks (the largest hook position). This way, as you wear your bra and the material begins to stretch you can adjust the fit by fastening it on the tighter hooks.
If your bra rides up in the back, the band is too large.
If you get “spillage” over the top, or on the sides of the bra’s cups, the cups are too small.
If the cups “pucker”, they may be too large.
Are you on the small side of a cup-size? Try a demi bra!
On the larger side? Look for fuller coverage for a better fit.
Getting Measured
Want to know if you’re wearing the right size bra? If you’re in Austin, come by the store and we will be happy to properly measure you. If you’re shopping with us online, below is a guide to measure yourself to ensure a better fitting bra.
You will need a flexible measuring tape (no metal tape measures, ouch!) or a length of string and a yard stick. Be sure that you stand straight up, and that you wear a bra without padding (don’t measure yourself naked).
Step 1, Band Size:Wrap the tape measure around your ribcage, just under your bust. Pull it snug but not too tight, no cutting in. Make sure it’s straight around, parallel with the ground. Round up to the nearest whole number.
If you get an even number, add four. If you get an odd number, add five. Example: You measured 30 inches around, add four for a band size of 34.
Or consult our handy table:
| Ribcage |
Band Size |
| 25 - 26 inches |

| 27 - 28 inches |
32 |
| 29 - 30 inches |

Step 2, Cup Size:
Measure around the fullest part of your bust, again making sure the tape is flat and horizontal against your back. Subtract your band size from Step 1 from this measurement, and note the difference:
